The folks over at Spyder3DWorld have decided to create their own printing material in an attempt to overcome a lot of the issues that come up with FDM printing. A month or so ago they put out a call for designers and print services to help them test the material in the form of a contest.
I submitted an essay and today I got an email telling me that I’d been selected as 1 of 10 designers to help them test their material. I’ll be getting material shipped to me and have to print out a given .STL as well as some of my own designs and ship them back to the company. After the trials I’ll be hooked up with 10 rolls of the final material and entered in a drawing to get tickets to the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show, so that’s pretty exciting.
I’m really excited about getting a chance to help provide feedback on this new material and will use this as a chance to promote our love of robot toys by sending their material back to them in the form of action figures and such.
I’ll let you know how it goes. ^__^
