So I got an email from Shapeways about the SuperFanArt…

So I got an email from Shapeways about the SuperFanArt stuff I had submitted. All but 2 of my MiniBots kits made it through with the failing ones cited as “Not including 3mm construction” whatever that means. They also included some of the “Thou shall nots” specific to the TF stuff that I thought you might find interesting:

1. Must not be capable of converting from one form to another.
(there goes half of Ariel Lemon’s stuff)
2. Must not include Cybertronian text.
3. Must not Include third party vehicles (for example, Bumblebee’s vehicle form cannot be a Chevrolet Camaro)
4. Must not Be Transformers Crossovers (for example, Marvel and Star Wars characters cannot be portrayed as Transformers characters)
5. Must not Be “Jetfire” in either vehicle or robot form from the 1980s original TV show.
6. Must not Be “Megatron” in gun form from the 1982 original show

and then in the general “Thou Shall Nots”:

“Must not Include construction elements (e.g. KRE-O components)”

So there goes a good chunk of the stuff that I’ve designed and everything that Tresob has submitted.

What’s really strange is that in the Monopoly section they expressly state you can’t do any crossovers and list no making an Optimus Prime game token to use in Monopoly as an example. It has to be all original stuff. Maybe it’s just me but if I’m going to make an all original little game piece that can be used in Monopoly I’m perfectly happy to just keep it on my shop as a tiny statue rather than hand Hasbro over X% of my markup for the joy of being featured on superfanart as a Monopoly piece.

After this, I’m starting to think that it might be time to search for other methods of distributing my designs. What do you guys think?
